Poems & Stuff — January 17, 2009

I blogged quite a few poems here. I hope there aren’t any typos or bad links in my comments. I’ll double check this later. The kids are waking up. Have to run. Check these poems out, their excellent!

  • Adam Fielded pines about love in “L’amour,” an absolutely excellent poem you shouldn’t miss.
  • Sigh. Any poem that starts with with the title Lingering has already sold me. Just say the word. Rachel Phillips’s poem at Outlasting Moths is excellent. Also, check out Roots, wow.
  • David E. Patton has several new poems at his blog Uncle David. They are all excellent.
  • Andrew Lockhart has a very grim perspective on winter, it’s called I Know All. Watch out!
  • Daniel at his personal narrative blog notes that It Could Be Better in a poem of juxtaposition.
  • Summit Manor has a very soothing poem called A Warm Afternoon in March; it reminds me of the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi.
  • Somethingkaty is still churning out wonderful poems in accordance with the rules. Incredible is all I can say. I finally submitted my own title today, wabi-sabi. We’ll see what happens.
  • Tony L. Jefferson, Jr. at Poetic Mindscape has written a really harrowing poem about a poor urban girl who has lost her way. The poem is called Liquid Death and is complemented with an appropriate photo.
  • Kira at Title-free for a Limited Time has a poem about a random fictitious ebayer. Sounds pretty real to me …
  • Anna Russell explains the truth about innocence in a four line poem called Backwards Glance.
  • Paul Buttigieg laments the current situation in Australia regarding aboriginal sacred grounds in Aboriginal Birth Place. The poem used the term “white man”, which threw me a bit. I agree more with Paul’s An Aboriginal Stroll where he notes our colors are the same if we wish them to be. At least I thought that’s what he meant. Also, recently, Paul has a poem about The Smoker; watch out for second hand smoke.
  • Ivan Donn searches for the poet in the man, then perhaps sees it isn’t a necessary search. I think? Anyway, A Monument in Words is a neat poem, read it.
  • Finally, if you had to use these words to write a poem — fleet, besmirched, jaguar, pestiferous, dolphin, girl, freesia, pineapples, passion, fallible and thankful — could you do it? Well, Dragon Blogger has. Check out his A Day at the Zoo.

Here’s a neat Goth video, Calm Before the Storm by Arcana:

It’s been fixed. Probably at the time this entry was published, about a year ago, it was near the top of your page! Thank you for your blog!
