strands of tomorrow

Strands of tomorrow
twirl around today
and hold tight
prickly clinging strings
of microscopic proportions
that lead to a pattern
of crisscross spiraling
last year dragged in
and that day
five hundred years ago
when you fell into my arms
and I held you there
and kissed you
and thought at the time
I knew everything.
