crow’s feet, a poem
crow’s feet
Her reaction instant;
the damage to her face
not physical
emotional
hot wired
irrevocably
into scars
that even with time
would never heal.
exposed, a poem
exposed
Sun beams come down
through holes in dark clouds
and dance across
rough waters.
alienated, a poem
alienated
Old planets explode
in the dark space
left around my heart
since you left me;
little green men
spy on me,
shadowy forms
that prey upon me
since you’ve been gone.
just a whiff, a poem
just a whiff
Flowers laced
with radio nucleotides
small dust that blinks
as you sniff.
ripples, a poem
ripples
The tiniest of birds pausing
for a breath and a peck
on the rim of an old rusty bucket
brimming with yesterday’s rain
and tomorrow’s velleity.
circular argument, a poem
circular argument
The sea that flows
around the bowl
never ends.
drizzle, a poem
drizzle
All day, it came
a powdery rain
that mixed well
with evaporated hopes
and condensed expectations.
he said, she said xiii
He said,
I’ve decided to save
all the stray frogs I come across;
I’m keeping them in the bath tub
for now.
She said,
you’re driving us apart.
liquid crystal, a poem
liquid crystal
An angel walks barefoot
out there in the brook
where the water sings
where the water stings
she melts into the clear cold
and splashes against my toes
calling me home.
yesterday’s tomorrow isn’t today, a poem
yesterday’s tomorrow isn’t today
An old dusty book
with yellowed pages
and crusty corners
opened to the middle
where curious eyes spy
long forgotten
an iridescent beauty
the shutters of a butterfly
as it lifts itself up
and out of the book
taking flight first
but then fluttering into
an ancient dance
of presage
from years before
you took your first breath.
