universal concepts of nature, a poem
universal concepts of nature
Objects of possible experience
with no particular empirical significance
only reflections upon water still as glass
as I fall into it, nose first.
cessation, a poem
cessation
A macabre dance
against a darkening sky
your twisted trunk
a shiva
a mad dancer
wildly wavering
as you shimmy
out of your skin.
Love pushes me toward you
and a dream holds me there;
the hope
that all I ever need do from now
is fall
down there
into you.
dissipate, a poem
dissipate
She is a ghost
watching me from the distance
and when she thinks I’m not looking
she sneaks nearer
for a closer look.
Once I could feel her
there
right behind me
so that when I turned
I caught her
face to face
frozen
eyes, deep, fathomless, coy –
I leaned in for a kiss
just a small kiss
but before my lips found their mark
she’d faded into mist
wet dew
against my tears.
canine, a poem
canine
Let your tongue
hang loose
and breath easy
on a hot, hot day.
courtship, a poem
courtship
Words on the loose
wreaking havoc everywhere
singing, low and high;
there goes a tambourine
to accompany them
down that way
where you want me.
iridescent, a poem
iridescent
Fur coated and black gloved
a pale white painted face
eye shadow, iris, of course.
Eyes so large
they draw in
all the world
leaving nothing
but red, red lips
and an aura
of tremulous colors
that curve
into shadows
of rainbows
following
your every move.
the effect of friction iii
the effect of friction iii
Even polished surfaces
when examined closely
are seen to have
inequalities;
fit them
into the hollows
of the opposite surface
and slide –
oil, grease, black lead
does no good
these holes are in my heart
and weren’t meant
to be filled.
the effect of friction ii
the effect of friction ii
Machines in free motion
trying to get their bearing
as they fall
and tumble
toward a well lubricated
and smooth
surface;
an imaginative view
through a shaft
leading out
into the world.
the effect of friction, a poem
the effect of friction
Rough surfaces
on you
sour your face
and leave me
gasping;
force and resistance,
it’s just a theoretical standpoint
but I continue to maintain
you move
too fast.
the luminiferous ether, a poem
the luminiferous ether
Two aspects of a single entity,
unification futile;
vibrating waves
through a medium
never seen
never known –
as they cross the cosmic shore
and drench me
in mystery.
A love that fades
at the break of dawn
replaced
with the vacant space
of a time gone under
a bridge
not even there.
