lift me up

Set atop
her brother’s shoulders
she puts the prism
just right
and in a nick of time;
the sun streams in
brilliant spectral colors
light up the room;
rainbow faces
cast aglow
in bliss.

    spun

    Circles,
    one placed with in the other
    again;
    the center of a box
    curving into itself
    while turning on an axle;
    adjacent wheels
    that turn in opposite directions –
    mutually assured self-cataclysm;
    the fallout of colors,
    cobalt blue
    and pink grapefruit,
    mandarin,
    red on black.

      colors

      Dreams
      in shades of green
      that melt
      and coalesce
      into purple bloches
      from which sparkles of red
      ignite into orange flames
      that consume the whole
      leaving a yellow flatness
      that gradually fades
      into a cool blue.

        Instantaneous searing light

        Instantaneous searing light
        a blast of hot air
        knocking you down
        and out of the shade
        into a rainbow world
        where each color
        has a distinct tone
        and a multicolored melody plays
        gently calling you
        outside of yourself
        and into
        a larger world.

          colors

          The inside of Her
          is a layer peeling off
          more and more layers
          less like an onion
          more like a croissant
          each layer, old paint
          a flake here
          and a fleck there
          crumbles and crumbs
          overcooked
          beneath each coat of paint
          yet one more
          and the deeper you dig
          the more you find
          until you’re sure
          it’s colors
          all the way down
          or at least
          as far as
          you dare look.
