shadow visit

Faintly glowing
this shadow from my dreams
now in my room
dancing across my walls
and out the window
waltzing
across the yard
and down the drive way
into the street
pausing for a moment
under a street lamp
to take a bow
then disappearing
into the shade.

    shedding light

Her fever had been a concern for all
but it was not until the third day
    that she had begun to shed light;
    during the day
it was only the faintest glow under a shady tree
and you really couldn’t see it in the sunlight
but at night when the lamps were off
she had begun to ignite the entire room into a pale faery fire
and even after the fever had finally been broken
    this continued for several weeks
much to the delight of her younger sisters.

      lightproof

      His heart
      was lightproof
      so they said
      dark and fixated
so that when he was cut
      even his blood bled black.

      Monochromatic glass
      easily shattered
      when the resistance pushed in
      and shed
      hard light.

        glowing spheres

        Glowing spheres
        of light
        enveloping me
        and blinding me
        raising me up
        from the ground
        and holding me there
        in a netherworld
        between one instant
        and the next
        revealing a living world
        that thrives
        down to the tiniest
        of dark corners.

          prevailing light

          The prevailing moon light
          looked to persevere
          under current conditions
          so he set out
          under the stars
          departing in secrecy
          sailing solo
          avoiding media attention
          spirits good;
          he drifted for hours
          then checked the constellations
          and finally headed
          home.

            hint of shadow

            Illumination
            enlightenment
            the brightness
            turned up
            until it is blinding,
            a blackness
            in its own right;
            a lack of definition
            that makes me desperate
            for even just a hint
            of shadow.

              when the light comes

              When the light comes
              the cockroaches will scurry
              the ghosts will fade
              and the vampires,
              they will burn.

                enveloped in shadows

                Enveloped in shadows
                seeping into the earth
                strong pungent smells
                yesterday devouring me
                even as tomorrow
                springs out;
                my heart floats
                high above
                casting diffuse rays
                of dim blue.

                  destroyed by light

                  Destroyed by light
                  a vampire
                  too hyped up
                  on positive thoughts
                  and rosy requests;
                  now just a zombie
                  burning in the morning dawn
                  and wishing
                  for a cool breath
                  of shadow.

                    Instantaneous searing light

                    Instantaneous searing light
                    a blast of hot air
                    knocking you down
                    and out of the shade
                    into a rainbow world
                    where each color
                    has a distinct tone
                    and a multicolored melody plays
                    gently calling you
                    outside of yourself
                    and into
                    a larger world.
